It was a day of “firsts” as there was the first ever Middle East Pilgrimage and the first ever Chaldean Rite Mass celebrated at the Shrine. Members of the Iraqui Chaldean community and the Lebanese Melkite community started their pilgrimage with Sprinkling at the well at the Anglican Shrine. After processing to the Catholic Shrine Mass was celebrated and languages used were Aramaic, the language of Jesus, Arabic and the Lord’s Prayer was said in Assyrian. This was a very special occasion and your prayers are asked for the people of the Middle East, particularly after the bombings in Iraq the next day.
Watch the Middle East Pilgrimage Holy Mass celebrated in the Chaldean Catholic rite with some Melkite Byzantine chants.
